Dr. Havron grew up in Falls Church, Virginia, attending J.E.B. Stuart High School. He received his B.A. degree in sociology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and launched a career in journalism as a reporter for the Winchester Star in 1972-3.

After working as a medical writer for 12 years in New York City, Dr. Havron heeded his childhood urge to become a doctor, and attended medical school at the University of Virginia, graduating in 1989. He completed his residency training in family practice at the University of Vermont in 1992, then lived the life of a true "Northern Exposure" doctor at Kanakanak Hospital in the Bristol Bay region of western Alaska, where he provided emergency medical care, delivered babies, and treated patients in remote Eskimo villages.

Dr. Havron and his young family moved back to the Lower 48 in 1994, where he was an assistant professor of Family Practice at Michigan State University, treating patients and teaching medical students and family practice residents. Dr. Havron, his wife Anna and children moved to Winchester in 1997 to be closer to family.

Dr. Havron’s practice interests include management of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and asthma. His special interests are the medical problems of performing artists, the use of computers in medicine, medical writing, and epidemiology.

His hobbies include playing the 5-string banjo and flyfishing.
